Finally!

November 15, 2008

It has taken nearly two years and sixty-seven episodes. But at long last, marvellous Mark from Essex has stepped up to the plate and made our Best Idea Ever into a glorious reality:

AGES and AGES ago (episode 8) you said, in response to someone asking a question about why do people who smell not know that they smell, that there should be a website where you can enter someone’s E-Mail address and it sends them an E-Mail saying that they smell.

I’ve been meaning to make such a website for ages, and finally got round to it.

www.youreallysmell.com

Enjoy :p

Mark, you have actually made our dreams come true. (Unfortunately not the dream where we become the kings of Peru, but we’ll keep holding on to that.) People, use this service! But don’t abuse it, or some innocent unpongy fellow you’ve been teasing anonymously will start scrubbing themselves with wire wool, and dousing themselves with Lynx, which of course smells worse than any odour an armpit could produce on its own.

Olly’s day job: the sordid truth

November 14, 2008

To all of you who have been guessing valiantly as to what our day-jobs are, Olly is finally ready to come out of the closet and declare that, at the moment, he’s writing and producing a comedy clip show for Yahoo Video with the comedian Tom Price. Click here to watch it! If you stick around RIGHT to the end, and you’ll even glimpse a charming cameo by Mr Mann himself.

It comes out every Friday. If you enjoy it and would like to see more, or if this video player we’ve posted is being a shitter and not playing properly, you can see all ten archive episodes and related amusements at http://www.getyourislandon.co.uk.

pods win prizes

July 12, 2008

Well, here’s a strange thing, listeners – esteemed questioneer Andy from Essex has pointed out that Answer Me This! is up for a European Podcast Award! The website is so magnificently confusing that we have NO idea what this signifies, beyond the mysterious ‘substantial material prizes’; but if you want us to find out, then vote vote vote (you can also win your own ‘valuable non-cash prizes’ by doing so. It’s all a bit like ‘Going for Gold’ or something…).

Befuddlement notwithstanding, thanks very much to whomever nominated us! Jolly kind of you.

If you like our ‘Mary Poppins’ or ‘Bjork’ jingles…

July 8, 2008

…you might like to see the Voice of those jingles, the wonderful Joanna Neary, perform some of her acclaimed comedy. Especially if you also like theatres in Bloomsbury, giving money to children’s cancer charities, and the comedians Jo Brand, Steven Merchant, Mark Steel, Jo Enright, Tim Minchin, Ed Byrne, Milton Jones, Mat Holness, Dan Antopolski and Robin Ince (in fact if you don’t like at least some of those things, you are perhaps a bit unwell).

Because:

on Sunday 13th July, star of stage, screen and Answer Me This!‘s jingles Joanna Neary will be performing in ‘A Night of Jos’, along with that properly stellar array of acts, at the Bloomsbury Theatre near Euston, in a special benefit night for William’s Fund.

So if you fancy spending your Sunday evening laughing your scalp off with the happy side effect of raising money for a very worthy cause, then book yourself a ticket HERE. It is likely to be Very Good Indeed.

Important Technical Guff

April 3, 2008

EPISODE 52 IS OUT TODAY! CLICK HERE TO LISTEN!

Yes, our new episode is out today, but you might not have received it in the usual way. See, our podcast has moved to a new feed. Incredibly, we were Too Popular for our old one. As Olly’s Yiddishe ancestors may have sagely commented, ‘Eh! I should have these problems!’ Etc.

Don’t worry if you don’t know what a ‘feed’ even means. Here’s all you need to know:

If you subscribe to us with iTunes:
Even though your iTunes might have been behaving oddly whilst we switched feeds (sorry about that), Episode 52 should be delivered to your Podcast Library as usual. Check. If it’s there, everything’s working fine – you’re receiving our new feed. Hurrah!

If, however, you haven’t received Episode 52 in your Podcast Library, even after refreshing, then just go to our iTunes Store page and Resubscribe. Our show’s free, so that’s no great shakes, right? Then you should see Episode 52 downloading to your Podcast Library, and you’ll get all our new episodes from now on, just like old times.

If you subscribe via RSS:
You need to subscribe to our new RSS feed. Here it is:
RSS
Presto!

If you listen/get your MP3s of our show through this website:
It’s your lucky day. None of this ‘pressing the subscribe button again’ for you! All the links on this site should work fine.

If any of you have other technical problems we haven’t covered here, do email us to let us know, and we’ll do our best to sort it out. Of course, that’s the address for non-technical problems too, like whether you should go out with that guy you like but you’re not sure if he likes you. We’re a service in so many ways.

Answer Me This!: Big in Luxembourg

January 9, 2008

Hello there, pals! We’ve been away for a month but we’ve been far from idle. Here’s the evidence:

There’s also an article about our Luxembourg-cracking adventures in the Telegraph on 12th January, so click HERE to read it.

We’ll be back with the first Answer Me This! of 2008 on Thursday 17th; if you require audio entertainment in the meantime, have a go on the Best of 2007 part 1 and part 2, or the redux versions of the previous forty episodes.

See you next week!

Where the jeff is Episode 37?

November 15, 2007

An Angry Mob has gathered outside Answer Me This! Towers, replete with burning pitchforks and flasks of Lemsip. “It’s Thursday tea-time!” they bellow as they pelt the front door with Tesco Value turnips. “Give us Answer Me This! episode 37, please! Otherwise I’ll have nothing to listen to whilst I trim my corns but the ringing in my ears.”

Perish the thought that we would leave corn-cutting unsoundtracked! Unfortunately although Episode 37 is all ready to go, we haven’t yet been able to release it, and you can choose your reason from these three:

a) Special guest answerers Pappy’s Fun Club were so funny that the episode has been embargoed until after Children In Need, lest it cheers the public up so much that they no longer feel any motivation to fix the world through do-gooding and charitable works;

b) Our answers to the featured questions are so incredibly accurate and sensitive that the episode has been taken away for scientific testing lest it can provide a universal cure for every query in the world;

c) Our hosting company is, yet again, being too shit to function.

Much as we’d love it to be a) or b), unsurprisingly the blame falls at the blame-submerged feet of our pesky hosting company, which appears to taken all of our money and jetted off for a year-long sabbatical in Alicante, leaving a toy panda in charge. Fond as we are of toy pandas, IT is not their strong point.

We hope the problem is resolved soon; meanwhile you can get a bit of a Pappy’s Fun Club fix at 11pm tonight, when they’re appearing on Comedy Shuffle on BBC3, and just imagine what the noises that accompanied this photograph would have been like.

Oh iTunes, what did we ever do to you?

October 16, 2007

It has come to our attention that iTunes is behaving like what is known in the trade as a Big Sweaty Bitch, by shirking its duties and neither displaying nor downloading our beloved Episode 32. It’s not the first time that technology has tried to withhold the Answer Me This! goodies, but at least this time it has only partially stymied us, for even while iTunes is you can still get your Episode 32 kicks by downloading it HERE or clicking on this player:

or pressing your ear into a conch shell you found on the beach (provided it is a conch shell equipped with wireless internet).

Back…next week!

September 13, 2007

Hello there, pals!

It’s been a month since the last Answer Me This! and we’re champing at the bit to start the new series. We couldn’t release Episode 29 this week because Olly had to take his mum to Proms In The Park. But he did get to see Chico, so it was totally worth it.

However we’re now back in the studio – here’s photographic evidence:bunch of hotties
(Don’t look at it too long or your eyes will go squiffy.)

And we’re mega-excited about the new series, which will kick off on Thursday 20th September. We’d love it if you would pose us some super-duper questions to get stuck into, so if you’re being perplexed by any etiquette dilemmas, legal trouble or general quizzical bemusement, hesitate not to phone Helen and Olly’s Question Line 0208 123 5877 or email answermethispodcast@googlemail.com.

See you next week! Yippee!!

Love,

Helen and Olly
