Helen and Olly on the radio

Because we’re not exclusive to Answer Me This!, you know.

BBC RADIO 4
This year we’ve made a two-part documentary, Podcasting: The First Ten Years, for BBC Radio 4. In the show we meet some of our favourite podcasters from around the world, including Marc Maron, Richard Herring, The Bugle, Roman Mars and Welcome To Night Vale, as well as Ben Hammersley, the man who coined the word ‘podcasting’ in 2004.

Although, ironically, the BBC decided not to make a podcast of this show celebrating the world of podcasting, they have left it up on iPlayer to be listened to FOREVER. You can hear the shows here.

LBC
Olly presents Olly Mann Through The Night, London’s most popular overnight radio show, each weeknight from 1am on LBC. You can listen on DAB nationwide, 97.3FM in London, and worldwide via the LBC website and app. There is also a podcast service where you can download all of Olly’s shows after broadcast.

Helen also appears on the station regularly as a guest on Ian Collins’ roundtable panel on Friday nights.

BBC 5 LIVE
Helen reviews the latest internet news every week on Saturday Edition with Chris Warburton, which you can download in the form of the Let’s Talk About Tech podcast.

In 2009, we became the UK’s first podcasters to be given a national radio show, when 5 Live commissioned Web 2009 with Helen and Olly, a look back over the year online (clips here and here). Several further specials followed, in which we got to interview awesome people like Jon Ronson and David Schneider, and in 2012’s Helen and Olly’s Required Listening we spoke to some of our favourite podcasters from around the world – clip here.

PODCASTS ABOUT PODCASTING
In 2011, we hosted a special edition of RadioTalk, the Radio Academy podcast, with guests including Luke Moore of The Football Ramble, Adam & Joe producer James Stirling and Collings & Herrin‘s Andrew Collins. You can hear that programme here.

We’ve also been guests on some brilliant podcasts over the years. If you like podcasts featuring podcasters talking about podcasting, check these out:

Looking forward to the 11am “Podcasting: The First 10 Years” show on BBC Radio 4 on 4th and 9th April 2014. Catch it on the Radio, Digital, TV and Online.

Loved the web reviews on Sky News today, Wednesday March 4… proof that when you’re blogging, content (and preferably other people’s) is king when you’re establishing a little empire on the internet. Also congratulations to AMT for proving that even the default theme at WordPress.com can be a style icon when it’s backed up by good content! All power to your two fingers… I’m off to enrol for my Beatles degree.
