tequila feedback

Here’s AMT321-related booze news from Steven:

Frozen mojitos are good but frozen margaritas are better.

Also, Desperados don’t have any tequila in, it’s just beer with squash in it (not knocking it, I love them).

Also, interestingly, slammers are not what you – or anyone – think they are. Tequila slammers are just tequila and 7 Up. What you’re talking about are just plain old tequila shots.

God, I never knew I held so much tequila pedantry.

Readers, if any of YOU are holding tequila pedantry, now’s the time to let it flow. Go on. We can all do some shots to take the edge off.

  1. Griff Says:

“Desperados’ listed ingredients are water, malted barley, glucose syrup, corn, sugar, aromatic compounds (75% Tequila), citric acid, and hop extract.”

    So Desperados does contain Tequila.

The only piece of tequila pedantry I know is really a matter of taste. When I worked in a bar with an angrily bleach-haired Czech bar manager, I learnt that only silver tequila should be drunk with salt and lemon, and that the golden tequil should be drunk with ginger or cinnamon, and orange. Or does everyone know that?

No doubt this will be reverted soon enough, but since Aug 7, the Tequila Slammer page on Wikipedia has contained the following:

“The drink gets its name from the way it is commonly consumed; the usual procedure is to leave about a fifth of the glass empty to allow the drink to fizz, then to hold one’s hand over the top of the glass and then slam it onto a hard surface to mix it. The slamming action releases gas bubbles from the mixed drink causing it to foam vigorously. It will then quickly escape the glass if not imbibed immediately, the result (and intention) of which is swift intoxication and heartbreaking regret.”
