Re: the Queen Mother.
The reason for the title was because she was also called Elizabeth. You can’t gave two Queen Elizabeths. When the Queen Mother was Queen, the previous Queen was still called Queen Mary.
When Queen Elizabeth II became monarch, it was the first time that the former Queen had the same name as the reigning monarch.
