EPISODE 214 – block and unfollow…in life.

by

Hello listeners,

This week, we learn that AMT is the name of a legal high. Seeing as legal highs are usually just brain-liquifying chemical syntheses that haven’t been made illegal yet, we cannot recommend trying it. We can, however, recommend AMT214, which is fully legal and will only have mildly detrimental effects upon your brain:

Subscribe to AMT! on iTunes listen to the MP3 through your computer our podcast feed on Libsyn Share with Facebook

Today we contemplate:

facial fuzz as feminist issue
The Beggar’s Opera
Ziggy Stardust
‘club dancing’
crowd control
Häagen-Dazs vs. Cadbury’s Flake
death by tinned peaches
Kodak’s adventures in weapon development
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
transposed to Durham
stuffed vine leaves
a night of creamy indulgence
and
watching Alien stoned.

Plus: Olly doesn’t think Mila Kunis should be doing a desk job, even in these times of scarce employment; Helen wonders what Kim Kardashian would look like without the intervention of depilators; and Martin the Sound Man can pronounce ‘cyanoacrylate’, because he speaks industrial adhesive fluently.

This week’s Bit of Crap on the App (available for iDevices or Android) goes further than today’s question about Downing Street and wonders what is behind the famous door of Number 10. According to Olly, it is our nation’s leaders attending to their itchy arses.

If your own itchy arse ever allows you to use your hands for something else for a moment, use them to send us a QUESTION, either by writing an email to answermethispodcast@googlemail.com or picking up the phone and leaving a voicemail on the Question Line (dial 0208 123 5877 or Skype answermethis).

And finally: if we’ve ever made anyone puke through the podcast, we would like to take this opportunity to apologise.

See you next week!

Helen & Olly

I heard Martin say “Why?” when Olly reeled off the list of foods to avoid when using the “legal high” AMT, & am doubtless over-excited at idea of being able to answer you something. Martin’s probably looked it up/ remembered by now, but indulge me; just shouting acronyms at the podcast didn’t cut it.

People are probably advised to avoid those foods because AMT’s a monamine oxidase inhibitor & those foods contain tyramine. The many risks of mixing the two include a rare but not negligible risk of falling down dead. Can’t think of anyother circs in which medical advice would specify banana peel, most people do avoid that in any case.

    It’s been a long time since I had to do with anyone on an MAOI but don’t think this article on why tyramine+MAOI=Very Poor Meal Planning is quite out of date;
    http://www.biopark.org/maoi-1.html

Several psychiatric drugs are MAOIs, so no surprise it comes from research for psychiatric meds.

Fun with mirrors or cheese – I pick cheese.

I watched an episode of Starsky and Hutch, where Hutch got Botulism FROM AN OPEN TIN OF FOOD. Being a young child at the time it has convinced me that tins in the fridge = Deadly poison.

Hi, On the /listen page, the player for this Episode (214) plays episode 213 instead.

Also, on the same page, Episodes 206 and 207 have the same description: “Ping-Pong, Gabrielle’s Eyepatch, and Babyccino”
