Bring on the LOLs

There has already been far too much bad news this week, and it’s still only Tuesday. We could all do with some proper cheering up, so let’s address this question from James from Telford:

What do you think is the best laugh-out-loud film of all time?

Go to the comments, readers, and tell us which films will give us the dose of jollity we need amid all the grimness, which we can temporarily forget whilst we have a chuckle-filled viewing party on electrical equipment we obtained through the proper, legal means.

“Arsenic and old lace” Cary Grant at his comedic finest! And it features serial killing old ladies who doesn’t love that?

  2. Charmaine's avatar Charmaine Says:

Clue – Tim Curry at his finest, I know all the dialogue and it still cracks me up every time.

And because I can’t pick between the two Dazed and Confused – partly for seeing Matthew Mcconaughey in tight pink trousers. (This film also caused a rift between me and my friend as she managed to sit through the whole thing and barely cracked a smil!)

  3. Better Than Torchwood's avatar Better Than Torchwood Says:

Twin Town. Great movie. Shame Rhys Ifans had to go and spoil it all by making Notting Hill straight after. Oh, well I guess it fits. Best comedy from the 90’s and biggest pile of twaddle from the 90s.

Funniest black and white movie: Duck Soup
Funniest black and white movie made when they could have had color, but didn’t, because it spoofed a black and white movie: Young Frankenstein (or is it Frankensteen?).
Funniest movie, because it really ties this list together: The Big Lebowski

  11. Barry Heaven's avatar Barry Heaven Says:

Definately Zoolander. Every single time I see it I end up laughing hysterically. Also I have to say the gasoline fight against the backdrop of Wham’s “Wake me up before you go go” is hilariously funny!

  13. Blidget's avatar Blidget Says:

And for totally ridiculous but very, very funny ‘Me, Myself & Irene’:

“The guy’s nuttier than a squirrel turd!”
    “Name’s Hank, Hank Evans – for little girls… ”
“Vagiclean,” huh? What’s the matter, honey? Little extra cheese on the taco?”

    I rest my case…
