There is a great Cinema in NZ in Wanaka that has sofas and chairs and even for some random reason a morris minor all of which you can use not so many fights for the armrests there,
As for over here its got to be the right, with a share of the left, woo behold anyone else who sits on my right hand side, that’s when you have to pull your sleeves up and rest your hairy arms against theirs

Oh and ‘Charlie the Wanghouse’ – FFS does of course mean ‘For F**** Sake’ – can’t believe you didn’t get that FFS!!

It also depends on your ‘neighbour’. If it is your bint or your bloke, then of course you would share and move for each other…or not??!!
However, if it is a soap dodging stranger then let the war begin! It is a test of nerves and steely determination to be able to hog the armrest between you. If you don’t do it, you will suffer as you have to lean away from them to you don’t run aginst their arm. I hate those selfish twats who spread their legs wider than their seat width and shove their elbows over the arm rest. This usually makes me wait anxiously until they move just a second to reach over for sweets of something and then I reclaim my space.
Aaagh it is all fraught with mind games and challenges.
The best solution to it all however, is to go tothe like of The Dominion Cinema in Edinburgh as you can hire HUGE two seater leather sofas for you and your partner sho you have no other fools to bother you! Luxury and comfy!

What is an FFS, and do I become one by asking, or do I lose the potential to become one, or are you trying to confuse me, or is this some cruel school yard joke?

A fairly limited choice of options! Both is surely an answer (be assertive, show dominance over your adjacent movie-goers), but I think the actual answer depends on the choices of other people on your row.
Clearly as a society we need more implicit rules to govern this kind of thing! There is nothing worse than turning up to a nearly full cinema and finding that people on either side of your allocated seats have used your arm rests and cup holders.

Agree!!! both both both! Though you should take pity on the more elderly citizens. They need to rest their delicate/ rotting/ slowly deteriorating arms. =)
Our rubbish cinema on the island doesn’t actually HAVE cup holders so I couldn’t possibly comment on the 2nd bit of your comment. .. if that makes sense. =) Which I doubt it does.
